OMRON MODEL HEM-711 SMART-INFLATE BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR: INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING CUFF Prior to taking your blood pressure measurement, you should avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes. Also, stress will raise blood pressure, so avoid taking measurements during these times. Take the measurement in a quiet place and seated in a relaxed position, with your left arm on a table so that the cuff is at the same level as the heart. Be sure to record measurements daily, also noting pulse and time of day. Wait 5-10 minutes between successive measurements to allow vessels to return to normal size. Locate the brachial artery in your left arm by pressing two fingers about one inch above the elbow crease. Put your left arm through the cuff and slide it up the arm until the bottom of the cuff is approximately 1/2 inch above the elbow. The green cuff marker should lie directly over the brachial artery on the inside of the arm. Pull the cuff so that the top and bottom edges are tightened evenly around your arm, then firmly press the sewn hook material firmly against the pile side of the cuff. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your arm resting on a table with the cuff at heart level. Relax your arm and turn your palm upward.
OMRON MODEL HEM-711 SMART-INFLATE BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR: HOW TO TAKE A READING
When you press the ON/OFF button, display symbols will appear, then disappear and the deflation indication symbol starts to flash. The monitor is not prepared for measurements until the symbol (heart) appears next to a zero. Press the START button, and the cuff will automatically begin to inflate to the correct starting point. As the cuff deflates, decreasing numbers appear on the display. In rare cases, the monitor will determine that a higher inflation level was needed, so it will automatically increase inflation and begin deflating again. The monitor will exhaust the residual air when the measurement is complete. The ready to measure symbol (heart) will stop flashing and your blood pressure and pulse display alternately. Remember to keep a record of your measurements.
